Enabling Homeowner Installations

From time to time there may be a need for homeowners to reset and re-provision their devices. If the task is reasonably straightforward and can be supported by Customer Service, we can eliminate a pro’s need for a truck roll.

Given the homeowner only requires installation rights, we can limit their company role to technician. Additionally, it is likely that installation rights will only be necessary once, so this is a temporary arrangement that needs to be reversed once all actions have been committed.


Note: You will require Fleet Manager admin rights and proficiency to complete this task.


Steps to enable the Homeowner

  • Take a note of the Homeowner’s email address in Fleet Manager eg. “homeowner@gmail.com”

    • This will match the Dwelling’s admin account

  • Create a new Company in FM Production

    • Name the company the Homeowner’s Address, eg. “123 Main Street”

  • Within the new company entity add “homeowner@gmail.com” to the users

    • Set their role to Technician

    • This will give them full installation rights but will not enable them to use the Pro Portal




  • The TZOA staff member will support the Homeowner through their installation process

  • Verify the installation via FM telemetry and device info

  • Remove the technician role from the Homeowner
